COMMISSIONS
Portraits and Site Specific Installations
Portraits are my passion,
I look forward to bringing yours to life!
Portrait commissions are created from your photographs, so selecting a strong reference image is an important first step.
A Portrait is More Than a Resemblance.
It is a story told in color, texture, and light — in the shimmer of glass, the warmth of ceramic, the unexpected beauty of a repurposed dish that once held someone’s favorite meal.
Each commission begins with a conversation. Together we explore the memories, relationships, and personal details that make your subject singular. I listen for the stories that don’t show up in a photograph — a favorite color, a cherished hobby, a place that mattered — and these become woven into the work itself, hidden layers of meaning that make the finished piece unmistakably theirs.
What emerges is not just a likeness. It is a narrative in mosaic — something to be passed down, wondered at, and loved for generations.
I accept a limited number of commissions each year, giving each piece — and each client — my full attention and care.
Every commission is unique — and priced that way. Size, materials, design complexity, and installation all shape the investment, and I’ll walk you through everything transparently so there are no surprises.
Whether you’re envisioning an intimate portrait for a quiet corner of your home or a bold, large-scale mural for a public or commercial space, I offer the full journey — from the first sketch and material selection through fabrication and installation. You don’t have to figure any of it out alone.
Your vision is the starting point. My job is to make it more beautiful than you imagined
“Gila was amazing to work with, very helpful with taking my idea and making it a masterpiece! She was wonderful with giving me color palette options, grout color samples, and communication all around. The mosaic backsplash is stunning in my new kitchen. Highly recommend!”

Beginning is Simple
To get started, I just need a few things:
- A reference photo (the most important ingredient)
- Your desired size
- A detail or two about your subject — favorite things, hobbies, what makes them them
- Any imagery, logos, or design ideas you have in mind (no idea yet? I love helping with that)
- Material or color preferences (or we explore together)
- Installation details — indoors, outdoors, wall type, etc.
- Any timeline or deadline to keep in mind
Every detail you share helps me understand your vision and give you an accurate estimate. And if you’re not sure about any of it — that’s what our conversation is for.
