Artwork Description

This portrait depicts fellow Julia Kay Portrait Party member and British actor ______ in one of his memorable theatrical roles, Fat Brenda. The character's larger-than-life presence, combined with the exuberance of costume and performance, immediately captured my imagination.

As I developed the mosaic, I found myself drawn to the glamour and playful illusion of a bygone era. The shimmering glass, mirrored surfaces, and sparkling details evoked the spirit of the Roaring Twenties, inspiring the title Flapper. The piece celebrates transformation, theatricality, and the joy of stepping into another persona.

Like mosaic itself, performance is an art of construction—individual elements coming together to create a larger story. Here, fragments of glass, pottery, ceramic, and mirror combine to reflect both the character's bold presence and the magic of reinvention.
